This page contains a selection of in-year and end of year map products produced using the entered SNOW data. The maps are organized by year and are shown below as thumbnail previews.   • Long Term Trends & Averages
  • End of year SDI interpolated surface maps. The maps below are generated using a kriging method to smooth areas between stations to create a continuous surface. Both a continuous map and a contour map is available. These are based on 20 year average SDI measurements from 1990 - 2010, with one set including all stations reporting data, and the other including only stations that reported for at least 13 of the 20 years.

    The following two maps show the number of weeks with a minimum snow depth of 40 centimetres. As above, these are interpolated surfaces based on the 20 year (1990 - 2010) average depth and used only those courses which reported for at least 10 of the 20 years.

    The maps below shows predicted winter severity based on snow depth until January 30, 2017 and February 19, 2017. The smoothed contours are generated using a kriging method to estimate snow depth between courses, creating a continuous surface. Please note that end of year winter severity may be affected by other factors not reflected here, such as an early spring melt.
